Ancestry-William Duffield Wilson Sr (1811–1884)

William D. Wilson Sr. was Grandma’s great-grandfather. He was the son of Matthew Wilson, the Revolutionary war veteran, Indian scout, and mail carrier by horseback from Pittsburgh to Presque Isle. Matthew was the son of the Rev. Dr. Matthew Wilson, who had the word “liberty” sewn into his three cornered hat; so there would be no doubt that he was on the side of freedom from England.
