The Bridge

It was often referred to by some old timers as the bridge “that didn’t set right with the road”. It was also called the “crooked” bridge, but there was nothing crooked about it. It was built diagonally to connect the roads that outline four country sections. It was a one lane bridge that crossed Locust Creek. It was made of steel and placed on concrete abutments at each end. The bridge was approximately 50 feet long and 8 feet high. It had wooden planks as the flooring. They were approximately 12 x 4” planks. There were boards laying perpendicular to the plank flooring for the cars and trucks to drive on. From my memory of the inscription…
