The Traditional High School Homecoming

When I was a kid, 50 years ago, the traditional high school homecoming celebration would consist of a parade, with a bonfire at night, the game on Friday night, and a dance on Saturday night. The parade mostly was made up of football players riding floats. The floats were either hay wagons or flatbed trucks decorated in the school’s colors with some important team member numbers, and a prediction of the final score, 56 –0, for instance.
